I always wanted to learn tai chi after seeing how graceful people were when I saw them practicing in the park. After I retired, I joined a tai chi class at a community center & started learning the Silk Reeling Exercises (SRE) and the Lao Jia form.
After 2 years, while still continuing the community center classes, I started taking Sifu Tony Wong’s class where I learned more the first tai chi forms aside from Lao Jia. These included Xin Jia & 48-posture form. I also learned & Pao Chiu versions of Lao Jia, Xin Jia & 24 Canon fist forms. In addition to learning different forms, I trained on weapons such as straight sword, broadsword, double broadsword, spear, staff, & Guan Dao.
After more than 10 years of training, I decided to take the certificate test which gave me the ability to teach basic tai chi. Being a teacher allows me to share what I learned with others & helps me deepened my understating of tai chi & qigong.
When not practicing tai chi, I enjoy doing various crafts, such as cork making, paper decoration & crocheting, which all help me relax & stay creative after retirement. During the pandemic, I learned bead working & jewelry making & made lanyards to hold masks for family & friends.
